Our History: We have awarded more than 1,400 scholarships to Castle seniors, totaling over $597,000 in our first 20 years. Click to see a list of 2017 scholarship recipients and donors. In the summer of 2013, with the blessing of the administration at Castle High School, we ended our affiliation with ‘Scholarship America’ and ‘Dollars For Scholars’ in order to become an independent organization. As such, about 2% of donations go toward administrative costs, and 98% go toward scholarships for Castle High School students. Our name has changed, but the mission is just the same.
Who Is Eligible? Every Castle High School senior pursuing post-secondary education is encouraged to apply. Applications are made available through the CHS guidance counselors during the spring semester.
What Are My Chances? Over 100 members of the Class of 2017 received CHS Senior Scholarship Fund awards, ranging from $300 to $2,000. An independent group ranks the applicants based on school activities, community service, employment, recommendations, grades and test scores. Those ranking the applications do not see the names of students who are applying.
How Can I Assist?: You are encouraged to contribute your skills and ideas by volunteering to assist the Castle High School Senior Scholarship Fund. Our all-volunteer organization can always use your assistance. Just contact Sandy Mellis at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by calling at 812-453-0428 or you can contact Missy Fanok at Castle High School at 812-853-3331.
How Can I Contribute? To make a contribution of $300 or more, please return the form on the back. For all other contributions, checks should be made payable to Castle H.S. Senior Scholarship Fund, and returned by April 15 to CHS Senior Scholarship Fund, 3344 State Route 261, Newburgh, IN 47630. A contribution of $300 or more gives the donor the option to present a named scholarship at the senior awards night in May. If you do this, you will be contacted with details.
Are Donations Tax Deductible? Yes. As a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization, contributions to the Castle High School Senior Scholarship Fund are fully deductible according to IRS rules.
