Wendy's High School Heisman - $500 Wendy's gift card To be eligible, a student must have maintained at least a ‘B’ grade point average, participated in one of the 27 sports officially sanctioned by the National Federation of State High School Associations, and demonstrated active involvement in his or her community. AES Engineers Scholarship - $500 *The scholarship is awarded on the basis of character, as determined by the evaluating the essays that are submitted. Please see the website for more details. October 06, 2014

BBB Student of Integrity Scholarship - $2500 - $5000 Students will be required to write an essay regarding personal experience with one of 20 principles regarding ethical behavior. Check the scholarship cabinet in the guidance office October 15, 2014

Levine Scholars Program at UNC Charlotte - Covers full tuition, room, board, mandatory fees, a new laptop, four summers of experiences to develop pre-professional expertise, leadership strengths, and social awareness as well as many other benefits. Nominations must come from high school counselor. See Mrs. Elaman if interested. October 15, 2014

Horatio Alger Scholarship - Applicants must be full-time high school seniors with plans to enter college no later than the fall of 2015, exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree, demonstrate financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income required), display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, hold a minimum 2.0 GPA, and be a U.S. citizen. NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing - $500 •Applicants must be high-school girls (grades 9-12) •Applicants must reside in the United States of America or on a US Military Base. •Applicants should have a demonstrated, outstanding aptitude and interest in IT/computing. •Applicants should have demonstrated leadership ability. •Applicants should have good academic history, typically a GPA of 3.0 or better. •Applicants should have post-secondary education plans. •For tax purposes, each applicant must have a valid social security number or Tax ID number. •Past applicants including runners-up are encouraged to apply; however, previous National award-winners are not eligible to receive a second National Award. •Relatives of staff, employees or board members of NCWIT are prohibited from receiving the award. VFW Voice of Democracy - Open to grades 9-12. Prizes and scholarships are awarded at the Post, district, state and national levels. State winners receive an all-expense paid trip to Washington DC to tour the city, be honored by the WFW and receive their portion of $152,000 in awards, with the top prize being $30,000. To enter, students must complete the official entry form and record an original essay (3-5 minutes max) on a standard cassette tape or an audio CD regarding the theme, "Why Veterans are Important to Our Nation's History and Future." Indiana Award for Aspirations in Computing - This award is to recognize young women for computer-related achievements and interests. Applicants should have a demonstrated, outstanding aptitude in IT/computing; leadership abiilty; and good academic history (typically a 3.0 GPA or higher). November 02, 2014

Prudential Spirit of the Community Awards - Castle High School may nominate one student for this award, which recognizes students in grades 5-12 who make meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service. To be qualified, students must have participated in a volunteer activity at least in part after September 1, 2013. Complete the application at by Nov. 4 to be considered as our nominee. November 04, 2014

WKU Cherry Presidential Scholarship - Covers in-state tuition as well as allowances for on-campus housing, a meal plan, and books. Students must have a 3.80 GPA and an ACT composite of 31 or an SAT of 1360 (math & critical reading only). Honors College participation is mandatory. November 15, 2014

College Go! Week Contest - $529 in a 529 Plan Open to students in grades 6-12. Students complete a brief entry form and write a short essay over the topic, "Describe how college will be important for reaching your career goals. What will you do in high school to help you get into the type of college you'll need?" November 21, 2014

NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation Award - Graduating high school seniors operate their own small businesses are eligible to receive a 2015 NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award. December 18, 2014

Knights of Pythias Visual Arts Contest - $1,000 Applicants must be seniors in high school and residents of Indiana who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students must also submit SAT or ACT results. Students will create a poster that is 14 in x 22 in regarding the theme "Stay Alive, Don't Text and Drive." See the file in the scholarship cabinet in the guidance office. January 25, 2015

Playing With Purpose - Open to current 10-12th grade students who are varsity-level players in at least one sport, have a minimum 2.0 GPA and are committed followers of Jesus Christ. February 01, 2015

National Co-op Scholarship Program - Scholarships are available to students who plan to complete cooperative education and are admitted to one of the 11 WACE partner institutions: Clarkson University, Oswego State University, Drexel University, University of Cincinnati, Johnson & Wales University, University of Massachussetts Lowell, Rochester Institute of Technology, The University of Toledo, Wentworth Institute of Technology, Merrimack College, or Kettering University. Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest - $200 - $500 Only 5 essays from Castle High School may be submitted. Students must write an essay of 450 words or fewer based on this MLK quote: "If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward."
