Elberfeld Elementary Reading Garden

The Reading Garden at Elberfeld Elementary was started in 2005; it is located behind the library in an open grassy area. The general purpose of this area is to create an area for our children to have an outdoor classroom/reading area. Over the past five years it has developed into a very inviting area. There have been sidewalks laid, trees planted, and various types of flowering plants incorporated into the garden.
We have had several groups donate to our reading garden, such as, our EPTS, which donated tables and benches, the local Brownie troop donated children statues, and most recently we have shadow children leaning on our trees, reading. Our classes enjoy going outside to utilize this garden, reading, plays on our portable stage, or just sitting and working on classroom assignments.
