NES Curriculum Information

Newburgh Elementary School curriculum encompasses all of the state standards.  Our reading program uses an anthology with the support of other literature, to provide the students with many enriching literature experiences.  The Accelerated Reading Program is also integrated to further differentiate reading instruction while allowing students to work up to their individual reading potential.  Our goal is to teach the children to love reading and become lifelong readers for enjoyment.

Reading, writing, and math are integrated with other subject areas to provide a holistic approach to learning.  Computers are accessible to students in a lab setting as well as in all classrooms, offices, and the media center.  The computers are used by students for integration into curriculum in all subject areas.  Thirty-one classrooms contain Promethean boards to provide additional technological learning experiences for students.  The implementation of the SPARK physical education program promotes the attainment of recreational skills to be used throughout life.  Curriculum guides, along with state standards for all subjects and grades are available in the office for examination upon request.
