Understand the score report  - Parent Tutorial

Indiana has recently passed legislation that requires the use of PSAT scores to identify students who need remediation in English and/or math.

House Enrolled Act 1005 requires schools to identify students needing remediation for college- or career-readiness and to provide that remediation prior to students leaving high school.

The “triggers” for identification include:

  • A PSAT score of < 46 on any component for juniors (< 42 for sophomores); and/or
  • Failure to pass one or both graduation examinations (Algebra I and English 10 ECAs).

Once a student has been identified, the ACCUPLACER diagnostic tests will be used to provide a detailed assessment of the student’s skills and specific deficiencies so that a targeted intervention may occur. The ACCUPLACER will administered at Tecumseh in March.

ACCUPLACER is a testing tool used by colleges to determine if students are college ready. Students who are considered college ready are able to take credit bearing courses in their program of study immediately. Students who are not considered college-ready must take remediation courses first. The Diagnostic assessments can help you identify skills needed to become college ready before graduating from high school. The test scores will help you and your high school counselor decide if you could benefit from a targeted intervention during the next school year.
