Mrs. Jamie Pryor

Dear Oakdale families:

On behalf of the entire staff, we welcome you back to the 2019-2020 school year!

I hope that your summer has been filled with fun family activities and enjoyed at a leisurely pace. How quickly summer concludes and our thoughts turn to eagerly preparing for the commencement of another school year. This is always one of my favorite times of the year! I love the excitement of beginning each new school year and welcoming our families and students.

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about myself. I have been dedicated to the field of education for 20 years. During this time, my experience includes teaching fourth and fifth grade at Loge Elementary, an Assistant Principal at Chandler & John H. Castle, and the Principal at Yankeetown for five years. This year will be my sixth year at Oakdale Elementary School. My degrees include a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education & Elementary Education from the University of Evansville. I received my Masters in Administration from Oakland City University.

I am honored to work with the very best staff, parents and students in Boonville. Our dedicated staff works very hard to ensure that all of our students have an opportunity to succeed in the classroom. Our staff also strives to develop meaningful learning activities that promote a positive and active learning environment. We believe that all students can learn. My goal as the administrator of Oakdale Elementary School is to provide a safe, nurturing environment of mindful active learners, where all are valued and appreciated for what they can bring to the classroom, school, and community. This atmosphere will focus on the highest potential of each student and will foster an enthusiasm for life-long learning. In order for this to become a reality, we need your help. Parent involvement is a very important aspect of every child’s education and is the primary factor in a students’ success in school. There are many ways in which you can participate at school. Volunteering to work in the classroom, OPT, festival, chaperoning field trips, committees, and assisting with many activities, are just a few things that you can do to make a difference. Even if you work outside the home during the day, you can be involved by doing things at home to help in the classroom. Our doors will always be open. We encourage you to become a part of this exciting year at Oakdale Elementary School! We strongly encourage you to check your child’s agenda book each night, read with them, and monitor homework assignments. It is only by working together that we will succeed!

In closing, please accept my best wishes for an exciting, productive, and successful school year at Oakdale Elementary School. You are welcome to stop in my office at any time. Your questions, compliments, thoughts, and concerns are always welcome. If you desire a conference with a teacher or an administrator, please feel free to call the school at 897-3710.

Please feel free to call or visit me at any time. I am looking forward to meeting you and having an excellent, productive, and successful school year at Oakdale Elementary School. I can’t wait to see you at the Back to School Picnic and Meet the Teacher Night on August 6th at 4:30-6:30. We will start in the gym at 5:00 and 5:30 to discuss important information regarding safety, arrival/dismissal, school procedures, etc. Then, I will dismiss parents to the classrooms.
