Transportation Services

  • Ensuring a Safe and Respectful Ride for All Students

Our goal is to provide a safe, comfortable, and efficient transportation experience for every
student. To help achieve this, we ask that students and parents follow these key bus guidelines:

    For Students:

    • Follow the driver’s instructions at all times.
    • Remain seated while the bus is in motion.
    • Keep hands, feet, and belongings inside the bus.
    • Use appropriate language and respect fellow students.
    • No eating, drinking, or throwing items on the bus.
    • Be ready at your bus stop five minutes before the scheduled pick-up time.

    For Parents/Guardians:

    • Ensure your child arrives safely at the bus stop on time.
    • Keep contact information current with the school for emergency notifications.
    • Reinforce bus safety rules with your child regularly.
    • Notify the Transportation Department of any concerns or changes in your child’s routine.

Following these guidelines helps keep our buses safe, punctual, and pleasant for everyone. Students who do not follow these rules may face progressive discipline, which could include warnings, parent meetings, or temporary suspension from transportation.

  • Guidelines for Student Transportation and Bus Stop Assignments

Our transportation system provides safe and reliable service for all eligible students. Below are
important details regarding bus routing and stop assignments:

    General Routing Guidelines

    • Transportation is provided for all students who are eligible, based on their assigned school’s attendance boundary.
    • Students are generally eligible if they reside within the attendance boundary of their assigned school.
    • Our routing decisions are designed to maximize safety, efficiency, and accessibility for all students.

    Stop Assignment and Responsibilities

    • Bus assignments are provided prior to the start of each school year or upon registration during the school year.
    • Students may be required to walk up to one-half mile to reach their bus stop.
    • Stop locations are determined by the number of students served, traffic patterns, and physical conditions of the area.
    • Students must board and exit the bus only at their assigned stop.
    • Arrive at your assigned stop at least five (5) minutes before the scheduled pick-up time.
    • Stop locations may change periodically due to changes in student population, demographics, or physical conditions in the area served.

    Tips for Parents and Students:

    • Keep contact information up to date with the school to receive notifications of routing changes.
    • Check your bus assignment and stop location before the first day of school.
    • Encourage your child to practice safe walking routes to and from their bus stop.
  • Check to see if which school your address falls under in the school district map. Information contained on the following link is believed and intended to be accurate. However, for official determination of school boundaries, please check with your school. On the right is an area titled "Layers." Be sure to check the box under the cultural subheading called "School Districts". At the top left, you may search by your physical address. To do so, choose the "Address" option under the "Search for" heading.

  • The Transportation Program in Warrick County will always be in a constant state of change due to factors beyond the control of the local school district, such as: Department of Education requirements, changes in State and Federal Laws, Department guideline changes, Commercial Motor Vehicle License requirements, Drug & Alcohol Testing requirements, etc. Therefore, the Warrick County School Corporation Board of Trustees expects the Transportation Plan to be a living document that will change as required to meet the needs of our patrons.

  • The road directory lists the elementary school your child will attend given your road name or subdivision. Bus numbers are also listed, both for elementary and high school students.

  • Keeping Students Safe on Every Ride

Student safety is our top priority. Following proper procedures while loading, unloading, and crossing the road helps prevent accidents and ensures a safe environment for all students.

    Proper Loading and Unloading Procedures

    • Students should arrive at the bus stop at least five (5) minutes early and wait in a safe location, away from traffic.
    • Board the bus in an orderly manner, using the handrail and taking a seat promptly.
    • Exit the bus carefully, using the handrail and walking in an orderly line.
    • Never push, shove, or rush while boarding or exiting.
    • Students should remain seated while the bus is in motion until the bus comes to a complete stop.

    Road Crossing

    • Students must cross the street in front of the bus only after the driver gives the hand signal.
    • Walk at least 10 feet in front of the bus, maintaining eye contact with the driver.
    • Remove headphones and refrain from using phones while walking to or from the bus and while crossing streets.
    • Never retrieve dropped items from the road; notify the bus driver instead.

    Tips for Parents and Students

    • Review these procedures with your child regularly to reinforce safe habits.
